Question

I recently installed my Blitz induction kit from Racelogic, it was very easy indeed once i dechipered the Japanese. I just wanted to know if the sound it makes is normal there is a hiss and pesh when accelerating hard around 3000rpm. Someone told me it was the sound of the recirculating dump valve is this true ?

There is a little more lag at low rpm <3000 but after there is a significant increase in the pull of the engine. I have timed it to be .2 os a second faster 0-60 on normal 95RON ... anyone else get a performance increase.

I can't wait now till I get the S/S exhaust and downpipe fitted.

I put my Blitz filter on two weeks ago, along with a Scooby Sport rear box and mid section.

I'll second all of your points - slight lag below 3k, much stronger through the mid-high end and definitely get some strange noises now!! A whoosh as the revs build then a pshhhh when I lift off to change gear. All normal though as far as I now. But then what the h3ll do I know?!

Cool

After about 50 miles of varied driving the standard jecs ECU should be more or less happy with the filter change... so the noises you hear may change over the first few miles, but will stabalise eventually. The noises you describe are probably normal, but the dump valve should only open on lift off, not whilst you are accelerating hard around 3000rpm... I assume you have a UK car, as 95 ron fuel and acceleration at 3000rpm are not usually things that go with STI cars...

Cool

Don't worry about that wssshhhh noise on acceleration and backing of the throttle. It's perfectly normal. It's the air being sucked over the fine metal mesh. Sounds great doesn't it!

Moray yes I do have a MY00 and I am learning to love the induction noise.

Just too the car on a 45minute blast through some of Trinidad's best North Coast road and you should hear the echo's off the hillside.

Talking

Just fitted my Blitz, agree with everybody so far, I have a Magnex 6x9 exhaust and the two noises together are fantastic. Better accelleration.

PS Didi anybody read REVS with the Subaru / Cossie article, did somebody really get a 4.52sec 0_60 time from a standard car with exhaust/air filter mods???

Cheers
Chris

Yeah my Bro in the UK says he read the article too .. as for my car the best I have got so far with a G Tech Timer is 5.5 secs with just the Blitz so I am hopeful of a 5.1 with full exhaust.

Anyone else ????

Hi,

Talking about performance.

Anybody know what the performance figures are for a standard WRX (no mods at all). 0-60 times and top speed ?

Warning, warning, warning, danger Will Robinson....... What I'm trying to say is that, Van Aken Development took my baby for a week while I did Vegas..... thats another story.
After a Blitz Induction Kit, Blitz Dimp Valve, Full Scorpian Pipe, Springs not forgetting to CPU upgrade I was more than happy....Lets just say a close friends EVO 5 was left standing...... What a ride she now gives, sounding like a a real scoody doing a shhhhhhhhaggey!!!!!

Hi all, 0-60 of a standard WRX? It depends on how old it is and whether it's a 4 or 5 door. They range from 220ps to 280ps (276 bhp). Mine's a MY98 WRX which is supposed to have 280ps like the recent STI's and the same gearing (4 door). It's got 20 less torque though (240 vs 260). If the STI does it in about 4.6 secs, a newer WRX should be quite close, maybe just breaking the 5 second barrier (older ones probably about 5.5) but I've never seen them tested.
