Why don't EVO or CAR etc. ever mention the standard WRX. They always test STI's or UK versions, like the 4x4 challenge EVO issue where the RB5 won. WRX's have got softer suspension than the STI which might suit our bumpy wet British roads better, but officially the same power at 276bhp. The best of both worlds then?

Dave West at Risboro 4 Wheel Drive who services import and UK Subarus reckons the best car he has driven for UK roads was the standard MY99 WRX. Loads of power, compliant suspension etc.etc. He's driven all variants including 22b's and still rates the WRX the highest!

As I suspected. I'd like to see an MY00 WRX tested against all the other types of Impreza, on UK roads. Surely it's the best when you take price into account (and not far off even if you don't). P1 is better but they cost a lot (a whole lot) more at 30K!!.

ps. I've started this discussion in the general section now. See you there hopefully, because I might need some backup.....
