Engine oil, which one?

The only reason people dont use Mobil 1 ow-40w is that Subaru have not tested the oil for Subarus, so it will invalidate your warranty. I spoke to Mobils technical help desk last week and was advised as soon as my warranty runs out to use Mobil 1 0w 40w. The Motorsport version is not ideal for normal/fast driving. If you have warranty remaining then the Subaru dealers can supply Mobil 1 5w-40w made specially for Subaru.
Any queries send a mail to Mobil, the lady I was talking to was Barbara, she didnt mind me posting her email :

Marcus - Halfords are doing a spend over £50 on service parts and get 20% off.
Alternatively ill pick some Mobil1 up in France for you on Friday, my folks live in Langton Green (Dornden Drive) not too far from you, I live in Tonbridge. Hope this helps to clarify a grey area.

OK, as I've got the WRX Wagon and at present no handbook, what engine oil should I use, eg; Mobil F1 0W - 40???
Have not checked her oil just (sill I know) but I want to do it before Bentley on Sunday, so I'll probaly go to halfords tonight, so I want to know if they'll have what I want.

Markus,
Steer clear of Mobil 1 0W/40 as it's way too thin for the Scoob.
I run mine on Mobil 1 Motorsport 15W/50 which is one pukka oil. I believe Halfords are doing an offer on the 4L containers at the moment.

Thanks for the offer, but I've just checked the oil and the levels are fine. I was told my my brother, whilst he was 'looking' at the scoob that the oil was a little low, guess I'll have to ignore his advice in future.
BTW - if you visit your folks much then we may bump (hopefully not scooby wise!) into each other

hi all,
the mobil 1 from french hypermarkets is a 5W 50 ,so would this be better/worse than the 5W 40 that main dealers can use?
I got 3 packs of the stuff, before i realised that i can't use before the warrenty runs out. It should keep though.
