DIY quickshift mod... ?
#1
anyone ever try modifying the shift lever themselves ?
I jsut paid out over 200 quid for the PRODRIVE one, but looking at pics on the Graham Goode site, I wondered whether all it takes is a replacement vertical shaft with a lengthened bottom section ?
Decent metal shop should be able to fabricate something up.. ?
Could even reduce the length of the top section for a little shorter 'throw'.
Despite the improved feeling.. it still feels a little less short (..longer ?!) than the quickshift fitted as standard to my old RS Mk 2 Escort Mexico (& the RS2000). God, I loved that car.
I'm amazed that places like Demon Tweeks are still advertising bits like Atlas Rr axle and panhard rods & 5 link suspension.... Oooohh, it's all coming back to me...

Howdy..
move the pivot point....modify the lever
A local shop could simply modify the lever.. dead cheap... cheaper than 200 quid..
I made the mistake of paying for a prodrive one with my first scoob.. never again.

The Graham Goode item costs 85 quid. Still expensive, but less so.
Part number GGS038 is best if you're ordering from overseas and don't want to return your old one.
Hey Steve - you gonna' let me have your old one so I can get it modified?!!!!!
