BPM Motorsport - Quickshift
#2
Greg is a lovely enthusiatic chap. If he says they have a quick shift it is probably quicker than the quickest gearbox.
Joking aside, would be interested to know what it really does.

Chris,
After experiencing the difference between a MY99 standard shift and a prodrive quickshifted(Chuck's new word) one, I'd suggest you save your money. The quickshift got a reputation as a 'must have' upgrade back in the MY97 and earlier days, when the throw on the gearchange was much longer (I had a MY97 once, and can vouch for this - I sawed a bit off the end of the gearstick for my cheap quickshift solution). The later cars come as standard with a much better throw and the improvement will be minimal (IMHO). Buy a better set of brakepads with the money intead, or a nice weekend in Scotland where you can drive as the car was meant to be driven!
Regards,
Charles

Yeah...
I used to have a 97MY Turbo and the gear shift was looooonnnnnnnggggg
The my 00MY turbo is much better.
I considered quickshift but it is very expensive considering its just a lump of metal with a slightly different angled connectors the gear rods.
A cheap alternative is to buy a Momo (or other) gear kob to match the steering wheel. This sits much lower on the gear stick and helps to shorten the throw even more.
Cheers
Ian.

I think it depends on which Momo gear **** you get. I have just fitted a Momo Phantom (carbon effect/leather). It is quite tall and seems to increase the throw slightly. Despite this it feels better than my MY99 standard gear **** as it is easier to reach from my driving position.
Cheers

Thanks guys for your comments. It was really out of curiosity rather than a serious enquiry. I'm tempted just to put the Momo gear **** on rather than change the whole gear stick.
Cheers

Pete, Chris...
sorry...I wasn't specific about which gear **** I've used. There are some very tall momo shift ***** which will actually increase the throw.
There are various aftermarket MOMO ***** (ooo-er ).
The one I went for is almost like a snookerballl in size.
a piccie...

.....that'll be the momo raceair leather........fine choice my man, i liked it so much i bought one too!
i'd say its significantly smaller than a snookerball though...otherwise i would have fitted one of those instead ..youre obviously overestimating the size of your **** when held in your hand Ian!
