Scoobysport Exhaust DE-Cat
#1
I've a MY00 with a Scoobysport rear pipe and ITG air filter. I've heard the full scoobysport system is much louder than just the rear pipe - true or false??
Will I appreciate the power difference?

I had the SS backbox and itg filter combo on my MY00 turbo for about a month.
I got the SS DP and mid section fitted last weekend. The car is LOUD Pops/backfires too when I overrun in 2nd, and lightly give it some gas.
Also, I was gaining on my brother in his MY00 turbo, so the power gains are noticable by de-catting.
Just need to get the front of the car fixed now, after that pheasant got in the way
SS full system = sweet
Richie.

How much is the full system, in the ScoobySport printout I have it only lists the backbox. Crawling under the Scooby it looks like there is a cat in the mid section AND after the turbo, is this correct?
Has anyone tested emissions on a full de-cat system to see if would pass anyway?

From what I understand it should pass with only the front CAT - depends on the car I suppose. (just got mine so don't have to worry for 3 yrs!)
Is anyone going to the meet at Birch services on 24th with a full de-cat system?

Hi mspeed,
I've got just the centre and rear S/S bits with a standard downpipe.
I have had just the rear box on my MY00 since new, and fitted the new straight through centre section two weeks ago.
There does seem to be an increase in torque from just the centre section, and it is a little louder as well (although the girlfriend hasn't commented (she doesn't know!!) and the neighbours aint said anything)
The car now pops and bangs a little more than before, but I quite like this.
To sum up, it is louder than a S/S back box on its own, and makes the car faster, but not just as loud or as quick as a full S/S system with D/Pipe change. It really is in the middle of the two. AND you will pass an emissions test.
Go on give 'em a ring!!

I have been running an IRG air panel, SS modified mid and back box for a couple of months.
I had the down pipe fitted today and the sound is not a great deal louder, just deeper. The car is much more responsive at low revs below 3500. (VF22 turbo on the car).
Only had a quick blast due to the fuel situation but I am well impressed so far.
Should have fitted it all in one go ...

Full de-cat system - try it before you buy it!!!
It is much louder so make sure you like it before parting with your money.
I suggest you spend at least half an hour in a car with the full system, ideally going through various driving conditions (motorway, B-roads, town centre...). Only that will give a really good idea whether the noise level is for you or not.

Yes, SS give demos.
Either phone Pete in Basildon, or I'm in Derby and can give you the lowdown. Better be quick though, I'm at Chatsworth House from Sunday, all next week, without the car.
