When I first picked up my MY00 in june in noticed the gearchanges were very stiff indeed and it was hard work changing into 2nd and even worse to put into 1st but I thought it would get better as the car was run in but now that I have done 3000 miles and installed a quickshift its seems the problem still exists and its becoming really annoying. Is it just a scooby thang or should I get it checked out.

Jake,
what you need is some silkolene pro srg 75 gear oil , i change my about 3 months ago the difference was amazing the gearbox felt totally different.
you will need 4 litre's and you fill it up by the dip stick hole, all you need is a funnel and a peice of garden hose about 10 inch's long.
The drainage plug is a 21mm socket i think and is at the bottom of the gearbox.
I brought mine from john cartright tel:01422 254187, price was about £35 with postage.

FWIW...
My MY99 has always changed very nicely, thank you.
I don't think there were any gearbox changes for MY00 (could be wrong), so I suggest you complain to your dealer first.
I'm sure Nick's advice is sound, I just think you should get it sorted for free at your dealer cos I don't think this is normal behaviour.
Cheers

mines a year old now and I expected the same things as others had reported same behaviour.
I reckon it took a month or two to free up.
I installed a PRODRIVE quickshift a few months ago and it seems to feel like it did when new, again. After about 4 weeks it seems to free up again.
If it's difficult to get into 1st, 2nd or reverse, I find double clutching via neutral or another gear first does the trick

Mine has had a Quickshift mod, and since then its become much stiffer, but a shorter throw.
Some would say baulky into first....I just say "positive". Clunk, yep thats first alright.
I just stick to the Shredded Wheat, or was it Weatabix....advertising is wasted on me !
