Exclamation

I am thinking of upgrading the turbo on my scoob to a VF23. Would it be better to leave the old mix and match exhaust system (T75 downpipe, magnex centre and scoobysport backbox), or swap it for a 3 inch unit from the turbo back?

Thanks Dan

First of all your a copycat!

I was told that 3inch is better if your turbo can flow enough air - which a VF23 can .

However, i would also stick with tried and tested components rather than a custom made pipe, for example as we all know that the same bore exhausts all perform quite differently to each other.

BTW - why the hell have you posted this in "Drivetrain" you muppet - do you work for British Rail?

Sunil, for an accountant you should be able to read, sorry understand numbers is more your thing. Look at the description under the title! I'm NOT coping you, I seem to remember talking to you before you had the VF23 fitted. I have been to an exhaust maker, a 3 inch system would be about £5-600 ish. From start (turbo) to finish, this was however with NO baffels and back box, just on pipe.

Tim, the link is getting better. Still working on the cold start thou. If your coming to Brands on the 27th, come for a ride!

Danny,

Firstly, for an IT muppet you should try to program yourself a sense of humour!

Secondly, you should learn to spell.

Thirdly, your post (below the title) is largely exhaust related and thus would be most appropriate in another fourm

Lastly, you should also realise that because you spend 600 quid excluding baffles, waffles, nuts and bolts and exhaust paste etc etc etc it doesnt mean you have the most efficient system

Talk is talk, show me the action jackson

Cool

Oi, Sunil, No! (Re "Copycat")

"Kettle, this is Sunil, You're black!"

I don't know, you fit a VF23 turbo to your car and suddenly you are showing the tuning community the way! Sorry M8, the guys at STI were fitting VF23's to production cars ages ago (STI 3 and 22B), so you've been pipped to the post there, old chap!

Anyway, hybrid turbo's are more fun, hehe!

Absolutely no offence intended for what i am about to say-

Danny, given your lack of hairstyle mate i would insist that you get more accquainted with a hairdresser rather than me (or do all council estate residents have compulsory haircuts like yours?)

Moray, i never claimed and neither wish to lead the way on anything. In fact as far as car tuning goes, i would now rather go for something tried, tested and recommended rather than be a guniea pig. I am very well aware of the fact that VF23s were fitted to STi3s and 22bs etc etc long before my humble peice of UK crap.
Perhaps you should sell some of your pucker industry leading parts and buy yourself a proper watch (or two) and some clothes that fit sensibly and even try to move into an expensive and progressive area like London?

Carolyn - You like more girth on your pipe do you!

Returning to the topic question. I have been told that the tuned length of the exhaust system can make a great deal of difference as well as the width, which affects back pressure. Most exhaust systems spend along time in development on engine dyno's etc.
