STI Ver 5 Running on 92 Ron
#1
Hi everyone, I own a 99 STI ver 5 Type R and I live in Batam Island Indonesia. A year ago I happily ordered my car from Singapore and was horrified to find out later that the only available fuel was 92 Ron pee water.
To make a long story short, I made numerous enquiries, spent countless hours researching exotic additives and fuel mixtures. Most tuners recommend that I use water injection plus aviation gas mixture. After about a month's worth of research I was finally ready to bring the car in to Batam from Singapore. The car was brand new and had about 1/4 tank of 98 Ron unleaded. That was the last time the car ran on 98 Ron. Below is the list of items fitted in my car.
Aquamist Water Injection
Broquet Top Fueller (inline unit) + Broquet Intank Unit
Apexi AVC Type R Boost Controller(1 bar)
Knock Link
Speed Delimiter with 1/4 , Top Speed memory and Trip function
Front Pipe de cat
Carbon Fiber Housing for Boost controller unit(replaces lid on top of centre A/C vents
Two Singaporean Wrex specialist from BKS Motors spent two days fine tuning the car to run on the local fuel.
I can easily get 14.3 sec 1/4 mile time @ 160 km/h(clutch dropped at 4000rpm). Top speed has been verified at 242 km/h @ 7500rpm. The car has now covered 9000km and feels faster than ever.
Next mods on the line:
Blitz cone filter
Uni Chip (reprogram injection and timing)
Halmeter Air Fuel Ratio meter
Exhaust Upgrade(maybe Mongoose)
Exhaust Temp Meter
Blitz Super Blow Off Valve
Please feel free to comment. Thanks.

Who makes this system? How much and how loud? Are they De-catted? They look pretty nice.
Oh yes, my car has a set of yokohamas 520 and they completely transformed the handling. Thinking of getting the anti lift kit now.

Sungkono, your car sounds top!You may want to think again about the Unichip though.I'm no expert but having looked into it a bit because I'm considering ECU fiddling my STi4 I've been advised that the Unichip is a crude device. The consensus of opinion(if there ever can be such a thing with scoobies)seems to be that a PossumLink ECU is the best and SAFEST option. They are made in NewZealand (or australia) so should be easy for you to get hold of.Check out

Has anyone fiddled around with Possum Link? I thought about getting Unichip because a few Wrex owners in Singapore got some good results from it.
Another area which definitely needs upgrading is braking. It is quite scary trying to stop the car quickly from anything over 200 km/h. Any recommendation on brake pads and rotors combination would be appreciated. I can get DBA slotted and cross drilled rotors from Singapore. I will also change the brake lines to improve feel.
