Hi,
1000 miles ago I had piston 3 changed due to the dreaded SLAP. The noise is now apparent again which is alarming. Can it be another piston????. It's going in tomorrow for an oil and filter change at Subaru so I'll question them but it would be good to know from you guys some extra info.
The quiet tapping is below 2000 rpm.

Let me know.

Thanks

Iain,

please see my response to SPJ on the similar thread "piston slap or worse" re noisy solenoids.

I would be interested to know what your garage think of the diagnosis I have been given and the test my garage used to confirm this fault. (I would have linked my reply in but I don't know how beacause I'm stoopid).

Hi,

I got my car back after no.4 piston was changed..

Any piston slap when cold seems to have been completely cured, and it seems smoother too.

Regards,

Alex
