Might sound a bit duff this but...

... what are the symptoms of clutch judder ?

Tell me its not keeping at a flat speed ( say 30 mph ) and then the car ever so slightly slowing and then returning to speed.

You can tell if youve got clutch judder when pulling off from a standstill, you will feel the actual 'judder' through the clutch pedal.
Mines going in on Friday to have the problem sorted, a MY99, its quite a common problem and easily fixed by the dealer under warranty.

MY00 is going in next week for a clutch and flywheel under warranty for this..also replacing the 2 front windows as they are scratched from a faulty pad in the door..also changing the drivers seat as its nearly got a hole worn in it.!

All common problems it would seem....

I went to Listers on Monday with clutch judder on my RB5. It's done 20,000 miles of mostly sensible driving and certainly no track or strip work at all. I was told with a big freindly main dealer smile that a new one's going to cost me just over £700 and it's quite normal for them to go at 20k, some even go as soon as 12,000 mls. The reason given was that with all that horsepower if the wheels don't spin something has to give - the clutch. I would think it should do better than 20k and I expected it to be covered by the Subaru warranty. I gave an example of a mate's 528i BMW which had 2 warranty clutches from a main dealer inside 48,000 miles - no fuss at all.
Who is your freindly dealer? I'm obviously using the one who's got monthly targets to sell for.

megastream,
Has your dealer actualy commited up front that they will replace both clutch and flywheel under warranty ?

My MY00 (9K) is due to go in for judder and squeel but the dealer has only committed to strip and investigation at this stage. When I asked about the P1 housing, would only say they will request it when submitting the claim.

I have just had the clutch and flywheel replaced under warranty on my MY99 with 22500 miles on the clock. I mentioned the clutch judder when cold and asked if it could be fixed under warranty. The dealer said yes straight away without having to consult IM. Evidently replacement of the clutch and flywheel is a standard fix for clutch judder.

T10RBM,
DONT accept that - what an excuse ......
There are many that have got them replaced under warranty - and it is *not* normal at that mileage.
Go to another dealer if there is no joy there.
It's bl**dy annoying this attitude by some dealers....
Hope you get it sorted...

My MY00 had a new clutch fitted last month at 10,500 miles and it feels a whole lot better. Symptoms of clutch Judder are indeed the feeling that the whole car is shaking itself to pieces as you pull away.
