anyone know whether anyone still makes engine preheaters?
Kenlowe used to make one called the Hotstart - this had a pump and an element powered by 240v mains electricity.
Would be great in a turbo impreza - oil etc would get hot quicker, so less time driving slowly first thing....
Oh and fuel consumption goes down....

I can't believe nobody's vaguely interested in this......
MORE POWER MORE POWER MORE POWER
did that attract any of the big exhaust fraternity?
hot engine = more power as soon as you set off.

Well at least in the Nordic countries it is very popular to have electric engine (and interior) heaters because of the cold winter. Defa is one of the brands that comes to mind and they seem to have one for Subaru EJ20 engines as well. See

Being a northener I've got an engine preheater installed, the unit from Defa that jah just mentioned.
It's great for those nasty -25 degrees celsius mornings, I think it saves the engine a whole lot.
Imagine the oil at those temperatures...syrup anyone?
It's great.

found the Kenlowe website.....www.kenlowe.com
their standard unit is about £150 and will fit anything......if there's room under the bonnet.
