Blitz Super Sound BOV - Problems
#1
I am Hippy Ian Gratton's bro. I have a Blitz BOV on my celica, and it does not work. It is leaking vacum (0.5 bar) and boost from the vacum system.
Has anybody had this problem before?
I have bought this from a friend. I have take the BOV appart, this is
A c-clip holding the pistom
A piston
A long spring (blue)
A large shaped washer for adjusting the spring
That is it appart from the adjusting screw and the vacum inlet.
Any Ideas - are there any seals missing.
I greased the internals and it sealed it but only for about 3 minutes.

Sgratton,
There are no other parts to the Blitz BOV. I don't know what the problem is unless someone has taken too much meat off the piston, maybe sandpapering it too much. Or the leak is elsewhere.

Cheers, Wrexy
we took the BOV to bits and it didn't seem like anything was missing. I think the previous owner has pollished the piston on a machine (cos it got dirty). Maybe they have taken too much off at that is why it ain't sealing any more.
Um....time to have a new piston machined me thinks.
I guess the best thing is if we can find an exploded diagram of the blitz unit or maybe get somebody to measure the diameter of the piston from a unit that does work to see if there are any differences.
I'm sure si will let you know when we've figured this out.

Sgratton or Igratton,
A piston should never be machined. In winter the piston sticks sometimes due to moisture. It should be taken apart and the piston sprayed with WD40, and cleaned with a rag and then sprayed again before putting it back together again. It doesn't need polishing. You only clean enough so that the piston moves freely in its cylinder. When dismantling, if the piston won't come out after taking the clip off, you can blow air into the vacuum inlet to force the piston out by using an airgun. This method is tried and tested. I don't know the correct diameter. You should contact the Blitz distributor in the UK which I believe is Racelogic for a new piston, or for the diameter if you know a copy can be made.
