Unhappy

We have just purchised 2 WRX 1994/1995 Impreza's. One runs perfect the other one has uneven running, misfiring over 3000Rpm. Plugs are perfect, swaped ECU, Very rich outer exhaust and no power. Any idea's on bits we could stop from good car to find the problem. ERGENT PLEASE

I'm not sure how those 94/95 rexes are set up, but if they have the same or similar setup to the 99/00 cars concerning the solenoid, then by going off other threads, the solenoid could be contaminated with oil and needs cleaning.

Question

Thanks for your reply Wrexy,Sorry with are stupid cars salsmen. Do you mean Fuel Solenoid, if so where would this be situated. Just an update on what we have tried. ECU-Lamba sensor, New plugs even though the old plugs where perfect colour. The Exhaust is still throwing out black smoke as though on Choke when you pass 3000Rpm. Tick over is Slightly Lumpy almost like a misfire. When Staionary the car will rev ok, but all probelems start underload.
Do you sill think its the Solenoid.

Please reply A.S.A.P.

Doesn't it sound just like the dreaded MAF has failed?

Question

You've changed the plugs, but have you changed the coil packs?

Apprantely a common problem on the older cars, although I have had no personal experience.
