Question

I've recently decided to upgrade my standard exhaust to a Magnex back box and centre, leaving the original downpipe (and main cat) in place. I know you can buy a centre pipe with or without the centre resonator from Roadrunner Motorsport but was wondering which one I should get. My main concern is that I don't want things too boomy inside the car but do want a noticable difference outside the car. Has anybody here got any experience of these two setups and can you tell me how big a difference there is. Also is there any noticable power difference between the two. Thanks for any replies.

I have a magnex Back and centre(with resonator).. Not to boomy at all.. with the windows down it sounds very nice, but does lack volume. Inside the car is fine....

Hey scoobysnacks...........like James says its not too boomy.......

I've got the Magnex backbox and centre with resonator and its perfectly ok, even on the motorway. I looked for a non-resonated version and couldn't find one.....

Cool

I should have said earlier that I thought the setup with the resonaor was not to boomy, but mainly wasn't sure about the one without it.
I think I'll go for the non-resonated version unless soneone here can tell me it's a bad idea. Hope you're right BladeRnnr...

Scoobysnacks, got a Magnex centre w/o resonator, c/w ScoobySport BB, no real problems with 'boominess'.
Makes it a bit more 'raspy' under acceleration compared to one with a resonator IMHO,

If you do a search (I did!!!) I think you can't buy the pipe without the resonator now - Magnex only make the one with the resonator in now.....

However - if somebody sells a used one then you might be lucky

BTW - you guys with it already - does it make a notable difference to performance/noise? I've got the Magnex BB and about to get the centre pipe, what will I notice????? Cheers

Cheers
Neil

Edited to add BTW bit!!!

ScoobyJawa,

You can still buy a brand new straight through Magnex non resonated pipe. Call Roadrunner Motorsport on 0115 978 1173 or go to

Cool

scoobysnacks,

Phil (salsa-king) has recently swapped his Magnex centre to one without resonator. There is very little diffence inside the car, outside there is more boxer beat at tickover and a deeper growl when pushing on. It also now pops a little on the overrun.

Phils car has a Magnex back box

Cheers
Lee

Thanks Lee,

I got my non resonated centre section yesterday and fitted it last night (in the rain). I'd already put the Magnex back box on a few days ago and I'm pleased to report that the sound is still at a fairly sensible level but, as you say, a bit more beat and growl can be heard. I love it.

Cheers all.
