Coolant replacement

Yesterday assisted a friend with a service on his MY97 Rex.
Everything went well -except the coolant replacement.
Unfortunately created an air lock in the system during fill -resulting in mega over heating and a disfunctioning heater.
Apparently Subaru reckon that the filling of the header tank should be VERY VERY slowly to avoid air in the system.
They use a modified funnel , that restricts the flow to a trickle.
I drilled out a cork and rammed into a funnel to restrict the flow.

No problem with mine which I did it myself, drain old coolant, new coolant in,till coolant level is full to the filler neck, start up the engine and top up as required with engine running. Then drive for 5-10 mins and check the coolant level after 2 hours after shutting down the engine, which you still require to top up again. As a precaution check the level again first thing next morning before starting the engine.

I had an air lock when i changed my antifreeze,in the end i left of the cap and slowly poured the coolant in until the heat came through on the heater, then i put the cap back on and left it idling for 10 mins.
Its okay now
