Hi.
My mum's '98 Impreza GL will often jump out of 1st or 2nd gear if it's going down a steep-ish hill. Not a very nice experience when the car is suddenly and unexpectedly in neutral on a steep hill. The dealer (Threeways, Abergele, N. Wales) hasn't been able to help much with the problem.
Anyone had experience with this kind of problem? Want it to be sorted before the car goes out of warranty in November!
Cheers, Ben.
Edited to say it's a 5 door and hence has the dual range gearbox in case that makes a difference!

take it to another dealer because it is a problem subaru know about and have a fix for it. you have a new 1st-2nd gear hub and gears which does include a new shaft so expect to be with out the car for a few days but it will cure the problem. the reason it does it was something to do with machined angles being something like half a degree out. but every dealer knows about it we have done load
