Exhaust wrap?

Don't wrap the standard headers as they are cast iron not stainless steel, if you want cheap heat wrap that withstands 1200degrees have a look at www.raldes.co.uk.

Have just had good service from www.proven-products.co.uk
They supplied me with some Cooltek Exhaust wrap and metal ties. Their prices seem reasonable too

Whats the effect of wrapping the standard headers?
Are we talking expansion/contraction problems?
Or is it down to water splash on them, making them crack/shatter?
