Cool FAO J Banks and anyone who gives a cr@p

Due to go collect the pug in a few mins Mechanic said the inlet manifold gasket was busted and therefore drawing air which he says would almost certainly be the cause of the flat spots. Some other pipe was split as well so thats all been replaced. Fingers crossed she should run sweet as a nut - I'll report for sure in an hour of so

I'm going to find me some hot-hatches if she is running right

Inlet manifold gasket busted. Yes it probably did again when he removed the inlet manifold They tend to come off piecemeal.

Woo-hoo back and she is running well. Averaged 13mpg on the journey home  Pulls like a fecking train actually £430 all in which I'm quite happy with for a full service, cambelt change and putting right a few bits and bobs including some replacement parts. Stuff hot-hatches I'm going to find some buyeyes to play with

The bill could be double that and it would still be a good car for the money IMHO. It actually sadens me that this is the state of the 2nd hand car market in the UK. Its a lot of car and a lot of performance for very little money. You were right re: fuel as well. Driving the same way I drive the scooby I'm getting 350 miles from a £45 (95 RON) tank in the pug vs 280 miles from a £45 Optimax tank in the scooby! 70 miles for free
