Type R V-Ltd Specification
I found some type R on the net (for sale) but it is Type R V-Ltd. Time ago I heard that this version has only WRX engine and no electronic adjustable center differential. Is it true? Which other differencies to Sti Type R?

I thought Type R v ltds were still STi's but they had the following extras;
Blue Mica Paint
Roof Vent
Limited Plaque
Intercooler water spray
Blue 555 seats
Possibly other stuff too.
Couple of easy things to look for to identify an STi are;
Red inlet manifold
Front carbon strut brace
Silver intercooler
Blue Mica Paint
Roof Vent

If the question relates to are all Type R V Ltd's - WRX only and not STi's, then here's an example of a Type R WRX STi V Ltd

There is a WRX Type R and a WRX Type R STi.
The differences between the Type R and the Type R STi are the same as the differences between a normal WRX and a normal STi except as you say the DCCD is only present on the STi. The V ltd's are a few bolt on goodies on top of this lot.
If you are seriously looking at these vehicles and want my opinion do not even look at a non STi. The performance of a Type R STi is beyond believe and i can promise you it will be the fastest production Subaru you will ever drive. Add to this the DCCD which gives the car tremendous handling through high speed corners because it biases power towards the back.
The STi engine internals are much much stronger than a WRX's and so can more easily be tuned even further. Plus they have a much stronger Group N gear box.

The WRX STi Type R Limited is a regular STi Type R with some of the omitted parts (aircon being the main one) being put back on. Limiteds also usually (but not always) have a slightly longer fifth gear than a regular STi Type R.
Zhastaph: Both the "regular" Type R and the Limited version have I/C waterspray.

I have a WRX STi Type RA V-limited which I beleive to be very similar to the WRX STi Type R which I had before.
Both have modified ECU settings???? over standard STI cars. Certainly the V-limited has the 74F sonic blue which is the same as the UK Terzo special addition. It also has the side skirts omited, serialised ID plate on the gear lever surround and if it is a 555 edition, blue suede seats etc. Other V-limited additions arn't that obvious as both the the cars have been STIs.
One thing: the WRX Type R and WRX Type RA (not STI versions) did have standard WRX engine, gearbox and brakes. This was because thes cars were meant for conversion into rally cars and as such were not built with things that rally teams would throw away immedietly. They are not that fast and not well spec'ed, but they were not mean't to be!!
The difference between WRX cars and STI cars is massive, and certainly between the STI Type R and RA is big as well.

Now I found this "old" thread and going to wonder.
Isnīt the WRX V-limited a 300bhp car?!? with standard WRX gearbox, I canīt imagine thatīs true...
Need help about this, because I need a real good and strong gearbox that seems to be one of the WRX V-limited because I do not want to use Dccd and I think the gearratio is okay as well and not as short as the on of a type R STI oder RA STI...

Okay I read the thread but not a hint on the WRX V-limited Type R model, is it a 300bhp car and I think if yes it has to have a better gearbox, but which one a shorter like the RA or normal STI ratio?
There is only one memeber mentioning his WRX Type R and he said that it is a very short ratio gearbox...

SUBARU DID MAKE A TWO DOOR WRX TYPE RA-LTD. (Many of the books and sites overlook this rarity). However, many will disagree. Should somebody proove conclusively that this was not the case then I'll happily stand corrected. Remember - RA "Race Altered" did not dictate body type, merely that the car was lightened and short ratio'd etc in preperation for motorsport. All Typre-Rs are 2 door, but not all RAs are four door.
The above is owned by Leonpoole - I would strongly recommend that you PM Leon, he's a good chap and will be happy to help. You'll discover that people have constantly questioned the validity of his car and he'll be glad to have a found someone else in the same predicament.

Ok, disclaimer. During my research I have discovered that no two RAs are the same. Take Leon's car - the spoiler is non-standard and this confuses people. My RA has a full electric pack which was added as an option (many don't as it goes against the lightweight "Race Altered" ethos)
Some will tell you that the engine is standard WRX. This is incorrect - the Intercooler was standard WRX as Subaru believed racers would bin the TMIC in favour of a front (like mine for example) and therefore kept cost down with the basic IC which enabled the car to be delivered. (The same goes with the calipers - basic 2pots on the front to enable delivery with the belief that they would be binned). Underneath the non-red inlet manifold and WRX IC is the sti engine.
No DCCD, No waterspray, the Two doors had a roof vent (the four's didn't) no red stiching etc etc. Don't let the pink badges on some RAs fool you into thinking they are STIs - they're not, some owners have put them on their car. For example my RA had a pink badge which was binned in favour of the orginal black 6 star badge.

Be very cautious when listening to "experts" that simply quote ad verbatum from inaccurate sources - they're the route of so much mis-information.

My old scoob i had this box in it and i could live with it as i never done a lot of motorway miles. Flat out it would redline at just under 130mph so you can imagine how high it revs on a motorway at anything over 70mph. Although if i did do a lot of long distance driving i dont think i could live with it day in day out

I'm looking at 2 Type-R V-Ltds outside my window as we speak. One is just a WRX and the other is an STi. The STi V-Ltd is identical to my Type-R STi apart from it has the Roof Vent.

P.S. Do you plan on doing any track work? I'd suggest that the jump from short ratiod 4th to long ratiod 5th would be a hindrence on track and odd during fast road driving. I've never experienced it so this is just a guess. Does anyone able to write an informed opinion have the longer 5th dropped into the close ratio box?

Comes standard with 300 bhp & numbered/1000.
Seats badged with previous years championship win.
No diff control but with ABS.
RA Gearbox.
2door sonic blue & cat flat in roof, Alloy bonnet.
Aircon, electric windows & mirrors.
Not many of these babies around and it drives well.
