Unhappy Clutch Replacement

Hi all,

I need some recommendations for a good clutch for MY96 wrx sti type ra, mine has just about had it.

Otherwise I've been thinking of replacing the gearbox for a normal STI box for the longer ratios's as I'm fed up of doing about 4500 rpm doing 80 ish.

Is this possible to exchange boxes or should i just buy a wrx sti instead.

Any help please

Cheers

Mat, I have just put an early RA trans in my Stiv3 for the acelleration in competition. they sure are short gears!
The STi is really nice, remember to check the diff ratios if you are swopping over.
I found my original Sti clutch ready to slip, so I fitted an AP organic. Realy nice action and very smooth and light.
Hope this may help you.
The gearbox/diff swop is bloody hard work, you have been warned!

Mat, lots of people sell the AP organic clutch, try Demon Tweeks, or Scoobymania or TSL.
The Sti box/diff is safely tucked away in the garage for a 'rainy day'. I race my car seriously, and if the trans goes bang then the STi units will go back in until I get a V7 Sti 6 speeder/diff.
I paid £500 for my RA trans, i think if you 'ask' on this site you will get an Sti set for similar money. Remember to get the box and the diff! (and verify the ratios are the same!!)
Graham.

try an excedy single plate organic clutch just as good as the ap unit and cheaper also the same pedal feel, bonus!! (nothing wrong with ap though)
