Clutch Pedal - Help please
Driving along this morning and dipped the clutch pedel but then the pedal didn't return to its normal position, it only had about an inch of travel in it just sufficient to change gear. I left the car for a while and when I came back it was back to its normal position. It was ok for a while but its now back to one inch of travel. The fluid chamber is full and I can just about engage gear. Its an MY99.
Doe anyone have any ideas, clutch or pedal mechanism???
Mark.

Likeliest cause is that the return spring at the top of the clutch fork has snapped. Have a peek under the intercooler and you should see a spring stretched between a metal bracket and the top of the fork. If you can't see it, it's snapped and fallen off...

Might be bubbles cong, but that's down the list of likely causes at the moment. Little point bleeding the system until other more likely culprits have been ruled out.

Had a similar thing happen to me after changing the box and the clutch on my stiv3.
On mine, the clutch was pressed down and the pedal came back about 75%. After about 10 seconds there was a load 'pop'/'bang' and the pedal came back up to normal position! I think the thrust bearing stuck to the gearbox input shaft bearing housing(!) cast into the box casing, some dirt etc. Hasn't done it since, and never happened to the Scooby dealer who drove it for 20 miles either.
Check the spring first!
