Question OEM vs Green Cotton (Panel filter)

I currently have a green cotton panel filter on my 99 Turbo.
I'm now worried that this oil based filter could damage the MAF.
If I swap back to a oem filter, whats the likely loss of power (if any) ?

Cheers
Chris

Chris - I was using an ITG and became a little paranoid about the whole MAF issue - I have a MY00. So I have fitted an STI Panel, which firstly fits bloody well in the airbox and performance wise feels as good as the ITG.

This might be worth a try ?

MY thoughts where along the same lines.
Where / who supplied the STI filter ?

AFAIK you should have no trouble with either Green or K&N panel filters.

Cheers your honour

7 Foot I'm led to believe there is two types of green filter (oiled and dry) - I'm prity sure mines the oiled type, and as such MAY damage the MAF. For £40 I don't want to risk a blown engine, so I'll buy a dry type.

Thanks for all the reply's

I think Greasemonkey replied to a post recently regarding the difference between the oiled filters. The main point was the material the filter was made from, and not necessarily the oil. The K&N/Green filters are made from a cotton gauze material, which holds the oil. The ITG filter is made from some sort of polyester foam, which may or may not allow more air flow, but certainly doesn't hold the oil as well. You don't find pools of gunk in the bottom of filter boxes that use K&N/Green filters, but you certainly do with those that use ITG...
