Fitting new turbo on Sunday, Any tips ????? Help Please :)
Hello All
I have just got a brand new VF34 Turbo to replace the well knackered (noisey and spools well late) VF28 Turbo on my MY93 WRX with the following mods on
HKS Air intake system
HKS exhuast system, with full decat etc
HKS 3 port Boost solenoid
HKS EVC Pro 4 Boost controller
HKS FMIC
HKS FCD Unit
HKS Boost Gauge
Uprated Fuel pump (new) Warbro?
7D ECU (95/6 UK type??)
The old turbo is front entry like the VF34 that will be fitted (90 degree samco hose!)
My mate who's a fantastic mechanic is going to fit it, I am well experienced in doing my own work but he offered so i am going to learn!!
Few questions I have
What gaskets will I need: Uppipe, downpipe ..anything else?
Do we need to pre fill turbo with oil ??
It looks to me like air hoses off, water pipes off, remove turbo exhaust up-pipe/downpipe nuts (won't be easy I know), remove oil hoses, remove turbo.
Fit new turbo with new gaskets for up-pipe and downpipe, fit water hoses, pre-fill turbo with oil from top and connect oil hoses
Refit air hoses and wastegate hose and run engine and bleed cooling system.
Oh yeh, going to do oil and filter change at same time... Fully Synthetic
I look forward to your reply's
Cheers
Rob
P.S How easy/long is it to change the spark plugs and what type should I use with above spec..

Sounds good, maybee worth spraying some wd40 or similar on the nuts and bolts the day before
Spark plugs, it may be better to choose a plug of a slightly cooler heat range if you are planning on running higher than standard boost.
Good luck
George
