Does anybody know how long the oil filters on my03 wrx's have been the small black ones as opossed to the larger blue filters.
I have just done an interim oil and filter change on mine at 5000 miles and it had the large blue filter fitted, were these filters still fitted by dealers on the running in services last september ie six months ago.

The new small items will start to be used as dealers come to the end of their stocks of the previous, larger types. It's nothing to do with running-in - just what's in stock.
