I have been looking at http://www.i-speed.us/products/engine/ they seem pretty good stuff!
Seems very cheap too!
Has anyone got a 2.5 in, and will there be a noticable difference!
Cheers

It's stressing me out!
What price are we looking at for the group buy? Do you have a 2.5 in yet? Have you heard the opinions of anyone who has?
I'm just trying to make an oppourtunity out of the crisis of my engine dropping a rod!

andy,
you can buy it from lateral performance now for about the same price as the group buy but landed and in england without having to wait.
ask mark if he can help you out.
020 8420 5444. think he will even answer at this time of night if you are keen to find out.

I got one shiped from Axis in the US to Aust(URL posted above) all done and fitted to my V5 STI, 1000rpm less lag (removed the VF28 and fitted VF34), instant throttle responce, just a wider power band and better set up.

911 I agree with MS, that is the benefit I've had. The turbo, octane and intercooling limit the power.
As Pavlo has pointed out, the other benefit of capacity is to allow you to fit a bigger turbo but keep it nice to drive.
It is nice to gain a bit of everything.

To drive the car is just so much better, max torque is at 3000ish, going from the vf28 to a 34 it has more top end, i also run a std 02 sti muffler with 3" pipe into it with my exhaust system, keeps it dead quiet.
It has so much more torque, before i was running 20 psi on the 2.0lt, injectors were flat out, now it is only 15psi and they are flat out, before was at 6500, now it is at 5600 ( max power rpm/air flow) it never made good power over 7000, so i don't miss the 8000rpm limit.
The only thing i can say that might be of interest is that a 2.5 is a huge 4cyl engine, and as such is has a little rock to it on idle, vert slight, but you can sit a glass full of water on the dash and not expect it to split a bit. They XT 2.5 forester we get is the same and the US guys say they have the same deal too, it has become a lot smoother after 1000miles now too.
I hate lag, and to have an engine that yanks at 2500 and pulls like a train was all the better, it's nothing to turn into a 90 deg street and have all four spin sideways on dry tar, never did anything like that before, that's all from torque. Also i have a little test street where i roll power on 1st to 4th, before it did 150kph, now it does 165kph (12mph more) with just what i have listed.
I am away for a week with Targa Tasmania, when i get back i will fit some larger injectors and retune it, which i hope will make a real improvement with 4-5psi more
The engine i got from Axis was totally STD USDM STI 2.5, has cast pistons, they are hypoeutectic (spelling?) according to STI they are 120% stronger than the forged ones, all twin scroll sti engine now have there too. BUT i do know that if you let it ping bad, as in rattle it's self to pieces they will break ring lands.
Timing i have now is ~26-28 deg total (8.6:1), before with the 2.0@20psi is was ~32-30degs(std 8:1), 98RON, was 20 psi at 3000rpm under full load, now it is able to make 17psi at 2500rpm with a bigger turbo which over the 28 is 150 rpm more lag back to back.
Cheers

Well, I'm looking for an I-Speed short block but certainly a closed deck one which isn't a 2.5 USDM based one.
In that case, what happened with the tranny, specialy the clutch...Will it be the same than on my 2.0 STi UK ???

Its not a case of just dropping one in. Other things to consider.
And I bet they keep telling themselves that
to STI they are 120% stronger than the forged ones
