Boost.... What is too much??????
Hello All
I am running a MY93 WRX with following mods
HKS Air intake system
HKS 3" exhuast system, with full decat etc
Dawes Device 1.1bar
HKS FMIC
HKS SSQV Dump Valve
HKS FCD Unit
HKS Boost Gauge
Uprated Fuel pump (new) Warbro
VF34 Turbo - Brand New
Uni-Chip recently mapped at Powerstation
At the moment I am running the car at 1.1 bar pressure
The car runs fine and has 290 BHP with 240Lb Torque
It has covered 70K miles and is in very good mechanical order.
What I want to know is, Can I run this at higher boost then 1.1?
What is the max boost this year of engine can take?
I know STI's can take more, is this due to better engine internals?
You thoughts please
Rob

Hi,
Would have thought you could run quite a bit more boost in the midrange and possibly a bit more at the top end. Would be best to speak to your engine mapper. I think higher midrange boost should improve your torque figure
I am going to try 1.4 bar till 6500 then drop to 1.3 bar with a td05/06 20g on a standard uk engine as this is what was suggested when I asked the same question on here.
The higher boost will put more strain on clutch/gearbox etc so be prepared
Someone who has mapped a car with a vf34 should be able to give you some advice.
Best of luck
George
