Default Full or semi synthetic?

Hi all, i'm going to change the gear and diff oil in my95 sti2. I was told to get castrol syntrac 75w-90 synthetic oil. I asked my m8 who runs an autoshop to get it but he's having probs, he can get me valvoline's equivalent in either full synthetic (recommended by book) or semi. What should i get? and does anyone know if this oil will be good enough?

As JGM says, order 5litres (enough for g/box and final drive and much cheaper than from Halfords) from Castrol. www.castrolclassicoils.co.uk For this amount it'll be post free.
Valvoline by the way is perfectly fine. I've used their gear oils and 5/50 synthetic engine oil with no probs. A very long established American oil Co. which tends to be overlooked these days.
