Life expectancy of my gearbox ???
Been Running over 310 Brake on my MY94 UK scoob (100 + thou miles also ) now for a good while & the box has started to grumble, Changed the oil to help prolong things,(quite a bit of metal paste on the plug) 3rd gives bad vibration (through the gear stick) , 5th crunches at high speed & it whines somewhat, Should i have one sitting in my Garage as an emergency donour !!! I know it is a sort of " How long is a piece of string"

Sounds like your bearings are shot.
My UK MY98 with 60k miles is now running 311BHP and 290LBF and after 1000 miles I am having the bearings replaced in the box due to vibration and grating noises. Dont know if it wear and tear or due to the increase of power.
Get all of them done as its now the 3rd time my box has been out of the car and the mechanic doing it has just replaced the faulty ones. 1st time in and 2 days later another bearing went and same happend again ! Last time he is doining it for free but its taken ages for him to do it and is costing me £60in Redline again.
Get it checked out, my gearbox had a slight leak on the shaft and was running hot after a run.
