As title - if anyone can please give me an answer with certaintly I would be grateful? If it makes a difference, the car is a 1996 with dccd.
BTW is the ratio the same as a Type-R?
Thanks hopefully.

STI-RA diff ratio should be 4.4-1 same as type R - BUT!!!!
they can come with anything fitted the only way to no for sure is to take the endplate off the rear diff and count the teeth
most should either be 4.44-1 or 4.1-1 but a m8 of mine had one that had 3.9-1 diffs fitted the car was direct imported from japan
hope that helps even though ive been no help

The 'tipex' on the rear diff crown wheel is the only sure way to find out.
Jack the rear up using the bottom of the diff (as you should).
2 axle stands on either side of the bodyshell as usual.
Let it stand for 5 mins(!) This lets the oil run fully back into the diff as the car has its rear in the air at an angle.
Undo the filler plug out of the diff. Have a rag ready for any dribbles of oil...
Wipe clean the one tooth you can see through the hole and dab with tipex.
Mark the prop shaft flange to a reference on the diff carrier.
Turn the wheels to turn the crown wheel for 1 revolution. At the same time count the times the prop turns(!)
For 1 rev of the crown, the prop will turn 4.1 times for the 4.11 diff
4.44 '' '' '' 4.44
3.9 '' '' '' 3.9 diff
This is surprisingly accurate.
Did this to sort the ratio on my RA trans, but the diff was not in the car!
Something to do this saturday Carman.
