UK 6-speed into UK 00MY - 6-speed diff required?

Yes, you will. Most definitely. Find out the gear ratio before you rush and buy any diff though. Get the serial number, and speak to a reputable Subaru breaker, such as Grade A or Central Subaru.

The rear diff has a 3.54 ratio, the front diff is 3.9 there is a centre diff and then the final drive. In UK gearboxes there is a 1.1:1 drop gear final drive, so the propshaft is spinning slower to the rear of the car. With the drop gear you end up with an equivalent ratio of 3.9 at the rear...
Hope that makes sense ;-)
Basically anybody with a UK car would be able to bolt the gearbox straight in, but anyone with a Jap spec car would need to change their rear diff.
That's the simple explaination anyway :-D
Yeah that went over my head a bit aswelllol this is what i was told when i sold my 6 speed box. this chap was putting it in a MY98 uk turbo
hope this helps

uk 6spd fits in a uk car with only shortening the prop.. dont worry about the above unless you have an import or a JDM 6spd.
