Engine Still Won't start...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
The API rebuilt engine has been fitted for nearly 2 weeks and we still cannot get it to fire up!
We have tried 2 sets of Crank/Cam sensors which made no difference, I've had 2 specialist auto. electricians look at it and as far as they can see everything is fine with all the electrics including the Alarm.
Has anyone got any other ideas, because we haven't!!!
The car is running a Link ECU, but I don't think this will make any difference. We could try the original ECU board, not sure if that is a good idea or not...probably just clutching at straws!

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
try the std ecu.. if it doesnt start.. check the fault codes.. dont drive the car if it starts though.

Dominic, If the engine has been cranking without firing for some time there is likely to be a problem with fuel washing the bores and causing early piston damage to the engine. I recommend that you squirt an amount of neat engine oil through the plug holes to ensure that there is sufficient lubrication.
Has anyone checked the cam timing? Just in case we've dropped a goolie here. Have you tried a compression test. We have the test figures from the build and they should correspond - but worth a comparison, don't you think. Are you on PFR6B 'standard ' plugs? - if not try a set just to start it on - if you run harder plugs.
Otherwise call us to see if wwe can offer anything else constructive.

The ecu was fine b4 and has not been altered so will still be fine, "check the dip switches", suprised no ones told him its his maf !!! Which, if its still fitted, is probably totally knackered in any case so if factory ecu is used then don't be suprised if that comes up.
Dominic suggest that the cam timing is rechecked v carefully, if its at all out the car will not start due to not getting the full compliment of pulses when it should be, David's pretty good ... however worth a shot.
Also take out the plugs and dry and clean, it can take anything up to THREE days for a set of wet plugs to dry out in the engine. When starting don't touch the throttle. Finally make sure the connectors to the sensors are actually fully located, saw a car at the weekend that had just been driven 200 plus miles on three cylinders and with a tumble valve not working just because a couple of connectors were not correctly in place. It does happen.

Just read davids post and support what he is saying.

Cheers Gents,
I'll get my mechanic to check the cam timing v carefully, I know he rang you on Friday David but you weren't available...if the timing looks Ok then I'll get him to call you this afternoon.
Fingers crossed!!

Usual warning stuff - not in confined spaces - try not to breath extinguisher fumes etc. etc. but it works a treat - just a bit cold on the old fingies if you hold the plugs..................
