Default Standard 99 recirc DV hold TD05 boost?

Pat mapped my classic 99 turbo last week with an uprated fuel pump and FE-TD05 turbo, we had it cut the power briefly and quite violently on gear change which we put down to the Blitz VTA DV and brief overfuelling.

I'm thinking of putting the standard recirc back on, will it hold the 1.4bar the turbo is running at ok or will i be needing a forge recirc or something, I think i'll go change it now since its a quick job, just wanna make sure i'm not going to break anything by changing it from VTA to recirc since its been mapped.

have a blitz supersound dump valve on mine and its fine, have you tried to adjust the dump valve, i have heard recirculating is best. mine was palying up 2 months ago and got someone to adjust it and it was fine i then returned a brand new forge dump valve so i saved £140

dont think any amount of adjustment is going to help, it holds the pressure and then releases it when required, its the ECU which is cutting my power due to overfuelling I think, therefore if i'm right it would happen with all VTA DV's, hence I want to try recirc but dont want to risk breaking something, maybe I'll just go swap it and see!

Damn hot weather, went out for a blast, finally have my nice turbo and loads of power and the weather sucks it all back down again, maybe i'll go out at midnight

Probably. Try it and find out. Your boost gauge will soon tell you if it can't.

I have a VF23 on my MY00, have a Blitz BOV and a John Banks tek 3. No issues with the BOV here.

Cheers,

George.

its weird, i put the stanard recirc one back on and i still have a violent holding back immediately after reapplying power after the gear change, it did this when rising in 4th a few times too, it just coughs then goes.

Wasnt the DV after all, I must say, its very weird driving around without it after all this time, think i'll put it back on and use the horn thing rather than the filter style attachment, its got more of a whipping sound but i did notice that since the opening is further down it leaked a little when I first used it.

mine has developed a little splutter when driving at low revs and its because i need a new oxy sensors on the top of the downpipe, yours is not pulling right at low revs maybe its the oxy sensor as well

Take it easy till you find the problem. You don't want to risk it and do any engine damage.

To me, it sounds like the ECU is pulling back the timing possibly due to detonation. Too much advance? Faulty MAF? Too much boost? Bad or low Octane petrol? Or even maybe a lose turbo/intercooler hose?

Did it start doing this after the remap, Turbo replacement and fuel pump replacement, or was it doing it before?

Cheers,

George.

Its doing it ONLY when "going for it"

@WREXY, its onyl started doing it since the new fuelpump/regulator/turbo/mapping was done, knocklink shows first green on occasions but otherwise silent up to the redline, no knock occurs when the cut back occurs. Pat dismissed it as nothing serious but its not right, i'm hoping he will get back to me soon.

Since it's doing it with the new gear and map, it means that something has happened after the fitment of these things. Maybe a leaking turbo/intercooler hose, or one isn't on right. Maybe the regulator needs twitching to get the correct fuelling, or maybe the pump or regulator is faulty. I'd be looking at these things. I doubt it's the map, cos Pat knows his stuff.

Cheers,

George.
