Clutch Issues ?

Clutch Issues ?
Dear all,
Just brought a Scooby (Wagon) and love it, however I am having two issues that need some advice (before it goes into the garage)
1) If driving hard get noise from the clutch as I bring my foot off the clutch
2) From a standing start the revs hold at 7000rpm (stink of burning oil / rubber) the revs then drop and pickup with the speed.
Does this sound like a clutch issue (car has done < 50K) and are they expensive?
Sorry to ask such a silly question, but this doesn't sound normal to me.
I also get some tremoring in the steering at around 80mph...is this normal.
Many thanks
Matt.

Does sound like the clutch is slipping.
50k miles is irrelevant,it can happen at any mileage.
The gear box has to come off,so a bit of a job.
May be worth considering an upgrade kit eg AP organic.
Agree, that reving the nuts off it from standstill will kill any clutch, not to mention the extra stress on the shafts, box, diff etc.
Treat it with care !
The shaking from steering could be anything.
Get the wheel alignment checked/adjusted and the wheel balancing.
Could also be ball joints or worn bushes.
Best bet is to find a Subaru specialist to get the whole lot done.

Not quite a boy racer, more of a gentleman with a new toy.
Thanks.

Exidy group N clutch at £350 plus fitting is very good, AP Organic is supposed to be too, then there are std subaru clutches and Borg & Beck for about £90 ( for B&B ) which seem to have good reports even on cars with near 300 bhp!
Your choice, fitting labour likely to be £200 - £250 depending where you go!
Hope you get it sorted
