Default Is a boost control kit required with Apexi FC?

I have been told by a supplier that A'PEXi Boost Control Kit (@ £265.00) is required with the Apexi FC. Is this correct? Is this a good un or are there better alternatives for the money? I have a JW racing boost controller (aka dawes device) that I have been using experimantally on my STI v5.

Thanks
Paul

Yes this is correct - there are other options such as standalone boost controllers like the Apexi AVCR etc. The dawes could be used but you would be best discussing this with the mapper

No that is incorrect !

The Power FC will control the boost up to the limit of the original map sensor WITHOUT A BOOST CONTROL KIT.

On your Sti5 your OE map limit is 1.8 bar....beware of your supplier !!

If this is the case does the Apexi FC use the OEM solenoid to control boost?

Just what I wanted to hear Andy.F.

I think that 1.8 bar is plenty for me

is there any benefit in changing from 2 port to 3 port solenoid when using pfc/commander/avc-r set up?

I know the TEK3 boys get recommended to have it.

I thought that you could run dawes with pfc quite easily?

Gimmemore-
have you thought of joining scoobynet plus and taking advantage of AndF's discount on the pfc unit.
it includes a mapping session and you know you wont get bumped

also, for the money you quote for control solenoid kit you could get an avc-r which has a very good second hand value
