Default Tapping noise...

Can someone help me diagnose a tapping noise im getting under the bonnet?

Not sure if it happens when its cold but its still there when warm, comes from around half way back on the right have side of the engine bay. Isnt a deep noise more of a tappety Ford engine noise.

Any ideas? What can i do to diagnose it better?

Ollie

It could be i suppose, i just assumed it would be a quieter engine.

Api David,Kindly gave me some advice on adding 500ml(1/2 litre)Of automatic transmission fluid to the old oil,Running it with the atf oil in for approx 100 mls,Then changing the oil and filter,With clean oil and trying that,But unfortunatly,This did not work in my case....So,i put some Fort`e engine flush in the new engine oil,And did a tickover flush for 25 - 30 mins...And then removed that with another filter + oil......
But i only let mine tickover,And quite a few guys do not recommend an engine flush...But,It was either that or megga bucks for a stripdown of the cams and hydraulic gear...So decided to give it a go....Kev.
