Air filter question: Piping to HKS induction kit
Hello Folks,
Currently my car MY94 STI has the original air induction piping with the induction kit sitting forward face at the intercooler reservior (only the airbox has really been removed). Still have MAF etc in original location.
Good advice given to me by API David is that its a crappy area for good flowing air/ventilation and that I need to get it to the feed hole near the driver suspension turret.
I think to solve it all I need is a 45 degree tubing - does anyone know where to get such a thing, or is a 'Blue Peter' effort?
Cheers,
Marky

Yeah mate, thats where I need to get mine too. At present it literally shielded by the fron head light, and its very near the manifold and coolant reservior.
How did you modify yours to fit like that? Actually, might try and run a feed from front of car as well - its bound to help.

TBH, I bought the car like that, I assumed it was the standard HKS induction kit, it all looks standard (IYSWIM).
Basically the filter bolts onto the MAF which uses a short length of rubber pipe to connect to the hard metal pipe which fixes to the turbo inlet rubber pipe. I thought that the only parts that were part of the HKS kit were the bits before and immediately after the MAF, but I haven't seen a standard airbox in any great detail to know for sure.
Just take your headlight out, Skyline stylee

I think it gets some cool air from the hole in the wing, but to be honest it's right in the airflow from the rad fans.

This is my engine bay
This is what I mean - its pretty tight as you can see, and as David says its being fed with hot air.
Like the skyline light idea - just as long as it never rains DOH!
So folks - what did you do? Did you remove that black box bit - what is it anyway?

Marky, I have some sticky back plastic if it will help?
David, do you recognise the metal pipe on my install? Is it an Impreza part, or an HKS part or some lash up?

marky-san. ur filter looks like it is already a blue peter job! i bought and fitted hks to my car and you should have a metal pipe to replace the standard resonator box and alter the position of the filter as on notoriousREVs car. hope this helps.
