Question ECOTEK - Quick/cheap way to pass MOT emissions without messing around with Cats?

I am curently contemplating a full/part decat on my MY97 WRX Wagon, but don't want the hassle of messing around with cats when it comes to MOT time.

I used to run an ECOTEK on my previous car which gave added fuel economy and significantly lowered emissions. I've done a couple of searches on this forum and generally they seem to be treated with some caution - dangers of leaning out mixture on full throttle, etc.

However, what if you fitted one of these devices just for the MOT? - 2 minute job and much easier than messing about with the Cats...

Has anyone tried this? If so, what sort of emissions results to you get with the Scoob?

VERY soon any MoT centre will have to electronically link their emmissions tester output to the Garage printer. There will be no MoT books, it will all be printed out to each customer.
Thus, if your car fails the emmissions (full decat) the negative result will prevent the Garage printing the MoT even if the rest of the car is perfect.

You have a choice: fit a sports cat in the down pipe or change the decat to a full stock system for the mot, get a ticket and then decat back on if you want to run the risk.

It will all be in place very soon.
