Swap it for a Z4 ecu off a later WRX, that'll give you an instant 20bhp increase taking you up to 260ps (256bhp).

Or try and get your hands on the Holy Grail - i.e. a Scooby ECU!

yes you will find it hard to get a scoobyecu.
The vos chip is better available even if it is from OZ
do a search on VOS - the guy you need to speak to is adrian VOS
The chip maps the car for uk fuel and gives about 280 bhp
i have one in my car with no probs so far.
only issue is that the cel light lights up but this is only cos the chip doesnt recognise the injectors - the car will otherwise run fine

Not so true.
It has nothing to do with the injectors, it is due to the fact that the VOS uses a Legacy code base, which is almost the same as the Impreza one, but with watercooling pump handling.
As there is no water pump on the Impreza to drive, you get a CE.

I guess you mean no water pump for the charge cooler, as the Impreza does indeed have a water pump for general engine cooling!

I am sure this is a minor item that can be ironed out?

You are right. I could have been more precise

Indeed, it is quite a minor issue.

Easiest way would be to fit a load resistor to that output on the board so that it still "sees" the chargecooler pump.

Thats interesting cos Adrian told me it was the injectors and documents it on the spec plus i get fault codes on the ecu which relate to 14 15 16 and 17 - the injectors.

Just my point of view there : I would never ever put something in my car that would exhibit any injector fault behavior (or any other engine critical part fault).

Note though, that I only ever checked one Legacy code, but I would hardly see it evolve differently to the impreza one.
Anyway, I plan on clearing a bit my old Legacy disassembly for a quick sorting, but IIRC, there was no I/O port use difference nor real code difference aside for the extra pump.
That is the very reason it is plug'n play from a Legacy to an Impreza.

Aside this, the very same adrian was quoted in this thread 4th post to have said quite a different thing :
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...&highlight=VOS
Note however that because the WRX does not require control for a intercooler water pump, an engine check results. I recommend a switch be installed in this wire to get rid of this if it is a problem. There is no negative result in engine running.
I guess there must be some misunderstanding somewhere ?

Fabrice.

Chaz yes it is possible to remap earlier cars, via a new chip being fitted and that being mapped to your car.
I believe scoobyclinic and Power engineering do it.
Thats my next step.
