The clutch type is irrelevent as to whether a fly wheel should be skimmed, The skimming is to give the flywheel a smooth even surface, after time a flywheel can become groovy ( Like your brake discs) & even warped, a visual inspection will be the decider.

Like Dean says you can only know if skimming is needed once you examine the surface.
If it needs skimming, only entrust this work to a competant machine shop. Remember lightened O/E flywheels are available for under £100, ready to fit.

i wouldnt fit a lighter flywheel to a std ish car..

Check the flywheel with a straight edge or dial test guage if you have one.

Personally I would just fit the clutch and forget.

I have two O.E flywheels that were machined. Both around 9kg. (Originally around 12kg.) I do not want to step on David's toes but I want £85 delivered for an outright sale. PM if interested.
