Help....my cars running poorly
Ok my cars running really bad and I have no knowledge of scoobies having only owned mine for 3 weeks!
Joined onto the Mway today after work and accelerated to about 60 to come off the slip road....then it kind of splurted and lost power....I stopped straight away to have a look but didnt see anything and it seemed to idle ok......then had to crawl home and the car was very lumpy......and running VERY rich!!!
Anyone help?????

MAF sensors are £77 including VAT etc, just call your local scooby garage. (you only want the sensor not the housing as well).
Thats what is sounds like, its put itself into limp home mode.

Would this cause my car to run very rich???? limp home sounds about right...it sounded like a nova on 3 cylinders and a Peco exhaust
Anywhere cheaper than scooby dealer to buy a new 1????

Check the turbo and intake hoses for leaks - I had a friend who blew one (the intercooler pipe). Thing is you couldn't see the tear in the pipe until it was removed ! This gave very similar symptoms as to what you have explained

Yeah the MAF can make it run rich (basically it senses how much air is being sucked into the car so that the ECU can pump the correct amount of petrol in)
Unfortunately they're £77 where ever you go (dealers and 3rd party suppliers), personally i would find one you can pick up rather than getting it posted.

the cheap MAF sensor only items are for the later cars
the 96 model doent have one and is quite a bit more expensive
its possible you may have a split boost pipe or have sightly blown one off (would give crappy running and overfuelling)

Tell me about it, £270 to be presise. Just for a sensor mounted in a piece of plastic pipe.
