Pesky Boost Cut! I hate it!!
Hi All,
I know that when you dawdle around in 2nd gear off boost for a few seconds then put your foot down, the boost cut comes in However, I was wondering if anyone had the definative word on if it comes in under other driving conditions and in any other gears, too?
Also, I know that several helpful and knowledgable souls on here have claimed that the boost cut is only there for noise regulations. However, SIDC claims that it is also there to reduce strain on the tranmission. Is this true? onder2: Would I be hurting my car were I to get it remapped and have the pesky boost cut removed?
Maybe I'm just already getting used to the standard performance of the car and need *in Tim Allen voice* "MORE POWER!!!"
Best.

Oooh, Just thought, it couldn't be the H&S backbox I've had fitted causing a glitch which manifests itself as a boost cut, could it?
Best.

I thought my 04 was cutting boost in 2nd on a few occasions, then i spoke to the dealer and they expalined it was actually fuel starvation - i was going round islands a little too enthusiastically on 1/4 of a tank.
Known problem.

LOL Naughty Merlin. So, the answer is basically for you not to negotiate corners so fast! Isn't that the whole point of a scooby, though! I generally regard the 1/4 full mark as empty on mine, so I don't get into a bad habit of leaving filling up till the last minute after the needle is bent around the bumpstop! It also seems to happen in a straight line, so I don't think its that.
It could be my imagination: the car sounds sweet, runs very smoothly, idles evenly, behaves absolutely fine at low speed etc... So maybe its just me having got used to the acceleration. It's just that I seem to recall 2nd delivering a notably bigger turbo hit (a real shove in the back) than 3rd and now the difference appears to have diminished....like it's not wanting to give me the full monty in second. Perhaps I'll get in on a rolling road just to be sure.
That's the thing about owning your first Scooby, you love it sooo much you start getting paranoid about it!
