exhausts for a 1.6...worth it or not?
Right, I've just bought my first impreza, a 1994 1.6 LX saloon, luckily for me it already has the 6 spoke turbo alloys and a low level spoiler so it wasn't completely unattractive...However the tiny pea-shooter of an exhaust really doesn't compliment the rear end at all!
I'm not too bothered about sound, I know its impossible to get the same kind of rumble as the bigger flat-fours, as long as it doesn't end up sounding like the knackered old novas you see everywhere! but is there anyone out there with a similar car who can offer me any advice (other than just selling the car and buying a turbo - unfortunately they aren't in my price range just yet!)
If anyone could help at all it would be grately appreciated!!

am i right in thinking the 1.6 doesnt have a boxer engine anyway?
if it was me and you wanted to do it, id stick to something like a 3" pipe as you dont want anything bigger because it would look/sound silly.
Either way it wont sound like a turbo, or even the 2.0 if its not a boxer engine.....so its all down to personal preference, but as i said if it was me and you wanted to do it, get a small(ish) round exit pipe like a magnex job.
Neil.

Cheers neil, must admit I'm not sure myself if it is a boxer now you've said that..... is it a boxer if it has two rocker covers either side of the engine as mine has, instead of just the one on top? You'll have to excuse my ignorance I'm still learning!
But yeah you're definately thinking along the same lines as I am I don't want it to sound too loud as it would probably turn heads for the wrong reasons, not being a turbo and all, top advice mate cheers!
