Default Had My flywheel and clutch fitted

7.5kg flywheel
borg and beck clutch plate and sum uprated coverplate from john pye motorsport which im told gives it more clamping force or sumthing??

anyway, my views

jumped in car, nearlly stalled it LOL

feels really strange at first, felt more like sum honda engine or sumthing that wants to be revved too bits

travelling in traffic, i backed of the throttle in 1st gear and it nose dived
kept kangerooing it as well.

got it on the motorway and opend it up

OMG its like sum little rev monster lol, now i tried my best to remain subjective, i can fully understand how it would make the car rev faster in neutral, but when your driving 4 wheels i couldntt get my head around how it would make them rev faster, but it seams it does

tried a few tests, a hard racing start, it started spinning its wheels, it would never do this with the old one unless itt was wet, this was on a steep hill in the dy on tarmac (was happy with this)

starts are a bit more tricky, bogged it down a few times, probably because im not used to having the bite point back down in the footwell, but i can see how the flywheel could cause problems with fast starts, been out for a few hours tonight driving around the coast getting used to it, it just seams to rev soooo much easier while blasting up the gears.

i am pretty impressed with the diffrence it has made, heel and toe is a lot easier as well, although theres been a few times where ive dived the front end when coming down the gears (unsure if this is the flywheel or the sticky clutch at the mo catching me out)

mod worth doing IMO

would love to get sum before and after figures from sumbody (1/4mile or 0-60)

Sticky, what impreza do you have? Do you have any idle probs with the flywheel? Are you running the same map as before?

What I meant was no stalling due to less inertia in the flywheel on tick over - I should bloody well hope its balanced!!

cheers

Sticky Micky,
My findings with a lightened flywheel,

On pull off at first, jerked kangarooed etc, Accelerated more quickly due to less inertia, But also spun down more quickly, due to less mass, so had to be better on my gear changes else it dropped out of the powerband etc, New driving techniques required me thinks

ha ha ha

dean i agree

nearly got the hang of this smooth driving lark lol

i saw the gf`s head jerk a few times out the corner of my eye
trying to reprogram my brain to give it a bit more gas when pulling away from junctions is a nitemare lol

i think it goes like this

Mind : give it more gas
Brain : i drive like this to save fuel you cant tell me what to do
Mind : give it more gas or you will kangeroo
Brain : ive been saving fuel for nearly 2 years now and you cant change me overnight
