As good as, possibly better than the AP in my opinion.

Have an AP organic, done lots of very hard standing starts, time and again, and again.
Think you will find both are very good and easy to drive with.
If both are new, go for the cheapest as both are quality products.

Lateral, I had one on my car for 35k miles dealing with around 350 brake 320 lb/ft, two TOTB's, one Scooby Shootout, several trackdays, 1 gearbox rebuild and when it came out the other day (there's no way the organic will servive the torque from my new 2.5 build) it was barely even worn, I would have tried to sell it used if I hadn't dropped it It's been replaced by the Lateral Paddle clutch incidently

PMSL, I too have gone onto a Lateral Paddle clutch now...'Almost' the same feel as an organic..... Not recommending it as an organic alternative!

Last year i nearly missed a RR day due to my AP clutch slipping (not due to wear) Fitted a Lateral Organic clutch and had no probs with slip at all. I posted about it at the time.

Not saying that the AP is crap, but the AP did start slipping after about 2kmiles... Lateral clutch is still going strong in my last car.

Forgot to say, Lateral clutch kit also comes with a New release bearing unlike the AP.

thanks guy's. got hold of a Lateral this evenin thanks to a good friend and his "swift" delivery service (you know who you are!).

I noticed also that the cover plate is made by excedy and both the cover and drive plates have "dk" stamped on them. only other difference I noticed was that the A.P had 6 springs and the Lat had 4 springs with smaller springs actually inside the main springs. must be a good enough reason but i'm dam'd if I know!

also for "bling bling" fans....the Lat cover has purple springs and drive plate has yellow springs....nice touch but shame I'll never see them after the box is back on!

once again...thanks for all opinions.

If you had bought the AP or a standard Subaru clutch the cover and drive plates would have had 'dk' stamped on them as well

Fit it with confidence. Bonus is the Lateral coming with a new thrust bearing. Didn't know that.
The spring within a spring design helps achieve a high spring rate with a very high reliability. Used to be used in valve spring designs too.
Colours make sure that the right spring is in the right place at the right time!
