Question Jap 6 speed question:

Lost all the old threads on the specs of various 6 speeders but:

I have an Sti v3 with stock trans and want to go to 6 speeder.
Which is the best JDM non dccd trans with similar ratios?

ie WRX or Sti. Can you get a JDM Sti 6 speeder without dccd, and if so what year?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC,

There are only two sets of ratios, one for UK and then the JDM, this is on the Impreza anyway. 1st to 4th are the same and 5th and 6th on the JDM are shorter.

Virtually all the JDM 6's do not have dccd. It was the USDM 2.5 STI that first received this, and now I believe the JDM v9 STI

V7-8 JDM STI, and UK STI do not have dccd.

JDM Version 7 STi is bugeye and is only 6 speed with no dccd and usually not suretrak front lsd. Sti type UK which sometimes gets called STi 8, is just 6 speed but with suretrack. JDM STi version 8 [ new style headlamps ] is dccd with auto override.

STi 9 is probably going to be the new shape rear ended 2005 car which will have auto dccd and the new screw type lsd instead of suretrack type.

There are UK ratios and JDM ratios which are lower in fifth and sixth, ALL 6 speed Impreza boxes up to Vers 8 are 3.9:1 final drive but as usual JDM boxes are direct drive and Uk boxes have transfer gears of 1.1:1 to utilise the 3.5:1 rear diff.

There are different gear ratios available in the US Forester turbo with a potential for 200 MPH
which no doubt wil find their way here soon. I am looking - honest.

Back into the fog again!
Thanks as ever David. I've sent you a PM. Looking for the usual no bull answer.
When will you have the V7 non dccd boxes again?
