Hks Hyper
Hey folks...
If I fitted a HKS Hyper back box and 3" center pipe to my 2001 bugeye wagon, along with a downpipe.. I need to know a couple of things...
Would I need to lag the downpipe? If So could you please tell me why?
Would I need a remap with this setup only?
I presume I would get an increase in performance with this,,, what sort of increase could I expect?
Thanks folks...

Hi,
My P1 is fitted with a 3" diameter decat downpipe and an HKS Hiper exhaust. The improvement with these mods over standard was just over 20bhp and 30lbs/ft of peak bhp and torque respectively. However, every car is different
Cheers

I am not sure of the reasons why people lag downpipes mine is "naked" and I do not appear to have suffered any problems from this. After all the standard one had nothing on it either.
Also, the car has had these mods for almost 3 years and has never been remapped, however, I have been advised to get one!

you will extract more power out of the car and it will be checked it is tuned correctly with the exhaust on there is you have it remapped.. lagging the downpipe mainly just quietens down the noise in the car, it should also speed up the gas flow and make it more efficent, whether it does and is noticable who knows.. I did mine for the noise reason.
