Default Sccobysport, Ninja, Afterburner, Ninja, Hayward and Scott, Blitz or Prodrive exhausts

I am just about to upgrade my exhaust and am looking for a centre section and rear box that can do the job. The most important thing is performance followed by a relatively quiet burble.

I do not want to look like a boy racer (difficult considering I own a scoob ) but want a little bit of a grumble. I have bought a second hand Prodrive centre section but may or may not use it.

I have heard lots of reviews of all the products but still don't know which to get. Scoobysport exhaust is in the lead at the moment due to all their technical blurb confusing the hell out of me!

Forgot to say I have a classic MY99 scoob and if anyone can recommend Scoobynet discounted prices then I would appreciate it!

Cheers.

Hi mate just a piece of advice - If you want a quiet exhaust buy the prodrive. If you want to wake the dead, buy a h+s or a blitz!!

Hiya,

I have a H&S backbox on my MY99 (otherwise standard). I also wanted to give the Scooby its voice back, without being too extreme. To say I'm pleased is an understatement: It produces a lovely pulse on idle and a deep, woofly flat four rumble under acceleration. However, its not too intrusive at a cruise.

Many people have commented on it, and the neighbours still talk to me! :-)

It's a great compromise.

Best,

I'll second that, I've got a H&S backbox and centre and it's marvellous. Just right on the loudness front and doesn't look to boy racery.

Remember H&S made the orginal ScoobySport system for the now defunct ScoobySport in Basildon (complicated this ). The current generation of ScoobySport (who bought the comapny name of the old ScoobySport) systems are based on a similar design, but the H&S stuff is cheaper And they'll fit it for free, while u wait, if your anywhere near Basildon.

Went through the same "which one" question myself.
Decided on the H&S one in the end ,and even got a non res centre to go with it.
I love it , it sounds the part performance has increased and the quality and fit is spot on , if I had to get another it would be a H&S

PS The afterburner is made by H&S and is one of the same, apart burnt tip.

Sorry to be an idiot but what is a non res centre? Is it the same as a centre section that has no cat?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Do you know where in Basildon to go to check one out? I am based in Middlesex so Basildon is not too much of a problem.

Cheers.

I have a MY02 WRX with a WR Sport BackBox ( prodrive )

Its not a cannon, its oval shaped and looks pretty subtle. You can get a round WR Sport BackBox aswell, but only as part of the PPP.

In car is quiet, especially on long drives, which gets the thumbs up. You can still hear it purring however when driving, and sounds great when you floor it.

When i floor it down the road i live on, the neighbours know im coming, so it sounds decent from outside.

I bought the car with the exhaust on.
If i was to ever buy another Subaru that had a standard exhaust, i would deffinatly replace it with the WR Sport.

Its all about choice i suppose, looks, sound, quality etc.

How easy is it for you guys (sorry and gals) to post picks. It would really help my decision as the design has to be quite subtle. I am not looking for my car to get jacked or stolen!

Homer

Take a look at this website:-

http://www.performancesubaru.co.uk/p...sp?id=98&cat=5

If you do decide to go for that exhaust, go to your local Subaru Dealer first, haggle with them for a price including fitting. If they want to rip you off, just buy from here and fit yourself.
Also ask them if there is any chance they can source a car that has one on so you can hear what its like before you buy.

What ever you choose, im sure you will be very happy with, after all anything sounds better than the OE exhaust.

Cheers
Marc.

Oh, forgot to say that in about 5-6 months time I want to replace the dowpipe with a hi flow CAT (want to keep it all legal! ). Will any of these exhausts have a problem?

Cheers.

As said earlier you can get a centre section with or with out a resonator, try if possible to stick with one make as it just makes life a bit easier.
H&s will make the down pipe you may want as well.
I f you do go down the road of mix and match some of the jap systems need a link pipe for a uk car.

Just out of interest does the prodrive centre section have a resonator or not. I know it does not have a cat but am not sure if it has a resonator or not.

Prodrive has the centre resonator, which is hidden by the original cat heat shield. MY53 Sti PPP I was thinking of doing away with this to improve the noise but without changing the back box which i like.

Cool! Looks like the possibilities are endless! Think I may go with the H&S backbox and hi flow CAT dwon pipe and stick with the Prodrive centre. Should hopefully do the job.

Ah no! Not more decisions to make! What is the difference between a straight or angle exit! Just when I thought I knew what I wanted!!!! Wish it was Friday and then could go down to the pub!

Just had a thought, if I go to Scoobysport in Basildon will they be able to show me all the different types of exhaust they sell with the different exhaust notes? Just a thought. Maybe it is best if I do not know and then I can't confuse myself anymore! onder2:

Do a search on angle exit lots of pics on here showing you all sorts, the angle exit is supposed to flow a bit better but its down to what you fancy.

Had a look at a few and even though the angled exit may give better performance I think the straight through looks much better. Just have to decide on exit size now. The end is near!!!! Woohoo!
