Question PowerFC Datalogit & air temp sensor

What are the most common things you would need FC Datalogit to adjust that can't be done from the commander? I don't need anti-lag, or detailed enrichment adjustments, or detailed MAF scaling adjustments as long as it works up to about 4.8-4.9V.

Are people installing an STi air temp sensor and a bit of loom for UK cars?

John, do you know how the PFC would use the temp sensor (ignition or fuel etc). Don't think i have that choice anyway on a pre97 .

I've managed fine mapping on only the commander, find it easy to use. The downsides ,and the reason i will get FC Datalogit, are it takes time to adjust big section of map. I also like the way i can log the AFR, knock, egt etc actually on the map so can see easily portions of the map that need work.

I do like my PFC .

Tony.

Datalogit just makes like so very much easier for mapping.

If this is for you, then you will probably need it anyway, I am not sure if you can rescale the load values with just the commander. The datalogit also logs stuff rather than records maximums, and allows you to log 4 aux channels with polynomial scaling, so will log a wideband nicely.

Also, all subaru versions are supported with one subaru datalogit purchase. So if you know someone with it (andy) he could help you map initially and then just use the commander to make tweaks.

From the handset you can still have an 8 point adjustment of the maf curve from 0.64 to 5.12 volts, ie determine where it lands you on the load table.

I don't consider the inlet air temperature compensations applied to fuel, ignition and boost to be of much use. As the main load input is already compensated in the maf, then between 0 and 40C ambient there is no real need for retarding or enrichment/enleanment. Water temp compensations meet most needs.
I currently have my AIT compensation operational from 45 deg upwards but really just as a safety measure during extremes.
What may be useful would be to feed in EGT to this input and adjust fueling/boost accordingly although it would need to be a tampered with figure as currently the max value here is 175 deg C

Thanks all. That EGT input could be very useful indeed for avoiding high speed blow ups. I think Andrew Carr will have the calibration for the Subaru IAT probe from fiddling with it and alternatives with his Link.

I feel a plan coming on
So we need one of Andrews magic black boxes that we feed a thermocouple signal in one end and get a 0-5v out the other that is actually 1/10th of the IAT signal (ie 800C in > outputs 80C to the ECU)
I wonder if the map/maf boxes can be converted
