Default Crunching going into 4th

My MY04 wrx has done this 5 times since yesterday when under heavy acceleration, but it seems to be intermitent. I am assuming the syncro is fooked and have got to take it to the dealers.

Is this a common problem??

Its only doing when changing after exiting a corner, i.e. still some lateral G's.

Odd??

The most obvious thing is to check the oil level?
I know it sounds a bit early, but a change of oil (eg Castrol Driveline (Syntrax)) if worth a try.

It'll be under warantee so get your dealer to check it out, hopefully before any damage gets done.

Thats what i thought this morning. My mate who had his 5th gear syncro go on his 04 after 5k miles was told by the dealer that its seems quite common for the cars to leave the factory with low gearbox oil levels

Thats what I was told when mine crunched going into 5th from new. The dealer overfilled the gearbox and that cured it.

However, a couple of months ago it started crunching going into 4th - the box had to be rebuilt under warranty!!

I'd get yours looked at by your dealer ASAP!
